MAINSTREAM WRESTLING IS LIVE FROM ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AND WE’RE INSIDE THE ENTERPRISE CENTER FOR MAINSTREAM 76!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Mainstream 76!
The opening guitar riffs of “War Machine” by KISS begins to screech throughout the Enterprise Center, injecting the audience with an immediate shot of excitement. They jump to their feet and turn towards the entrance way, anxiously waiting for the World Heavyweight Champion to make an appearance.
Better watch out

Chris Madison steps through the curtain and the live crowd erupts! Dressed for action, he stops at the top of the stage and peels back the pair of sunglasses that sat on the bridge of his nose, cracking a smile before tossing them aside. Madison reaches behind his back and unsnaps the Mainstream Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship, hoisting it high above his head. The ovation that the War Machine is receiving is deafening and he gloats while soaking it in. Madison drapes the championship over his shoulder and makes his way down the aisle, slapping hands with the fans reaching over the guard rail. As Madison makes it ringside, he signals for a microphone and hops onto the ring apron. He moves to the center of the ring and waves for his music to be cut while adjusting the championship on his shoulder.
CHRIS MADISON: St Louis…
He pauses while the crowd roars.
CHRIS MADISON: I hear ya! Trust me, I feel ya! You know, I pride myself in bein’ the Mainstream Wrestlin’ World Heavyweight Champion. To me, this belt proves that I am one of the best wrestlers in the world. There’s been those who have held this belt and not gotten the respect and recognition that they deserved. The difference between me and them, I refuse to let that happen to me. So how do you force people to acknowledge you? By steppin’ through these ropes every chance you get and beatin’ everyone and anyone who stands across from you. Unfortunately, tonight, I look across this ring and there is no one standin’ across from me…
The Mainstream Wrestling faithful in attendance quickly begin to boo.
CHRIS MADISON: Let’s see if we can remedy that!
Those boos change to cheers as Madison moves to the ring ropes closest to the entranceway. He leans on the top rope and looks down the aisle.
CHRIS MADISON: I said I was goin’ to do it, so here it is. Consider this an open challenge to anyone in the back. Non title, championship on the line, I don’t care! Let’s see who has the balls to get in here and mix it up with the World Heavyweight Champion!
Madison drops the microphone down by his side and waits to see if anyone is willing to accept the open challenge.
"My Name is Human" by Highly Suspect hits and gets a loud mixed reaction. Madison tilts his head back and drops his shoulders, visibly disappointed. He shakes his head and places his hands on his hips while watching the entranceway. As the meandering melody continues the mixed reaction turns to boos as Charlene Tilton-Everson steps through the curtain. She stops at the top of the ramp and gives Madison a genuinely pleasant smile as the music dies down.
CHRIS MADISON: Seriously? This was meant to be an opportunity for someone, anyone… Instead I get to hear some more bullshit from James Edwards’ mouthpiece.
Everson smiles and nods like a retail manager, and then points to the video board.
The feed picks up James Edwards standing at a punching bag. He gingerly taps the bag with a few jabs.
JAMES EDWARDS: Did you think I was on vacation or something, Chris?
He lands a light straight right.
JAMES EDWARDS: I've been training, just like Charlie said. I knew I needed to put some more work in before we fought again. I figured you wouldn't mind. Hell I thought you'd understand wanting to get away from the noise to focus on the craft. But I've been wrong before.
He slams a hard left to the top half of the bag.
JAMES EDWARDS: I thought you'd understand that I would never sandbag you in a tag fight. I thought you might get that I've been trying to show you some respect. But I was wrong then too.
He lands a 1-2 combo.
JAMES EDWARDS: I was wrong thinkin' that taking a show or two off to get my head straight would be okay. Charlene tried to tell me it was a mistake. She said you wouldn't miss a chance to kick at me. I told her you weren't that sort of guy. You wouldn't try to make a mountain out of an ant hill. Wrong again, though. So I figured I'd take some advice for once…
The lights go out for a moment and when they come back on there stands The Burning Heart in the flesh.
JAMES EDWARDS: And show up in person cause' you and me need to have a little chat, Champ.
Madison drops the microphone and squares up, waving his would-be challenger on. Edwards tries for a roundhouse kick but Madison ducks underneath and quickly shoots in with a double leg takedown. Before any more offense could be amounted, security swarms the ring and begins pulling the two competitors apart. Madison gets pulled from the ring while Edwards remains pinned in the corner. Madison reaches under the ropes and grabs the microphone from the canvas.
CHRIS MADISON: I don’t care about your intentions. You want this. You’ve never been shy about it. We can do this whenever, I don’t need an allotted amount of time to prepare because I’m always ready to fight like it’s the last match of my career. We can do this now, but I know you probably need some more time to prepare. So I’ll tell you what James, you name the time and place, I’ll be there, I’ll defend this championship, and I’ll end your fairytale of becoming a multiple world champion!
From the corner, Edwards yells loud enough for the boom microphone to pick up, "The Fifth Anniversary show!" before he is hauled away by the security squad.
