CONFLICT IS LIVE FROM SEATTLE, WASHINGTON AND WE’RE INSIDE THE MAINSTREAM WRESTLING STUDIO...HOME OF EMERALD CITY SQUIRES!
REMOTE LOCATION...
The warehouse is dark save for a single spotlight that rests on James Edwards. The Burning Heart sits on a stool dressed in a black track suit. The UWL World Championship sits on his shoulder.
JAMES EDWARDS: One is not enough.
He pats the main plate of the belt.
JAMES EDWARDS: One world championship is not enough.
Intensity ripples from the normally stoic Kentuckian.
JAMES EDWARDS: It took me two long years to recapture the belt resting on my shoulder. Two years of heartbreak, hard work and a hard toll on my body. I doubted myself step of the way, but I finally did it, and when I did it reawakened something in me.
He holds up four fingers.
JAMES EDWARDS: That's how many years it's been since I got a shot at the MAINSTREAM World Heavyweight Championship. And that entire time I was distracted by the United States Championship and beatin' the hell outta' Scotty Latimer. I fought a false crusade with the Franchise. I came and went from the company but I never quit watchin' that title. I've seen it get desecrated by arrogant bastards like Black, Danielson and Fernandez.
He lets the silence buffer his last word for a few moments.
JAMES EDWARDS: I respect the fighter but not his actions. I busted my ass to put that belt on the map. I took on all comers and I made it a world championship. Ain't anybody gonna tell me different. It's not a belt you treat like a retirement plaque. You stay and defend it like a man!
His words echo off the walls of the empty building.
JAMES EDWARDS: Four years and I never once asked until last week, and now finally I get my shot to regain the belt. I haven't lost since I came back to MAINSTREAM. I've been just as good as any-damn-body on the roster.
He slaps the belt again.
JAMES EDWARDS: One world title is not enough. I've got doubt off my back. I'm hungry to prove I'm the best fighter in this sport today and on August 1st there ain't gonna be a single person that'll keep this street dawg from eatin' his fill.
CHARLES HUDSON: Edwards was the first ever Seattle Pro Heavyweight Champion back in 2016! He’s the reigning UWL World Champion but he’s never held the Mainstream Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship! He returned to Mainstream Wrestling on March the ninth of this year and hasn’t looked back since!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: Actually if you want to be technical help has an unbeaten record since his return of seven wins and zero losses. He is the clear cut favorite in my opinion to take the top spot in Mainstream Wrestling for the first time in five years! Ladies and Gentlemen we have a lot in store for you tonight. Thank you for joining us for CONFLICT! Let’s pay some bills and hear from our sponsors!
