The crowd begins to cheer, as Billy Danielson walks out onto the stage. He’s wearing a nice suit, but with his arm in a sling to keep his collarbone in place. In his free arm, he holds the Seattle Pro United States Championship. He smiles at the crowd, but it seems to be a bit hollow, as he’s clearly in a lot of physical and emotional pain. He slowly walks to the ring, unable to hi-five fans, but acknowledging them with smiles and nods. He makes his way up the ring steps, and wipes his feet on the apron before getting into the ring.
Billy slowly unfastens the belt, having a bit of difficulty with the injured arm. He holds the title high to a chorus of cheers, something he’s not necessarily used to. He holds it as high as he can, feeding off the hype of the crowd, before lowering it down to his waist. The strap touches the floor as he takes a moment. He soaks it all in one last time, before lifting the title to his face and kissing it. Billy then lays the title at his feet, and asks for a microphone. The ring-hand gives Billy what he asks for, as Billy asks the crowd to quiet down a bit.
BILLY DANIELSON: You know… This isn’t something I wanted to do.
Billy fights back a bit of emotion, as he shakes his head.
BILLY DANIELSON: For 273 days, the longest reign in Seattle Pro by at least 101 days, I’ve redefined what Pride means. So much so, that they had to rename the damn belt, because I put too much pride in being the Pride Champion.
He kind of laughs at this.
BILLY DANIELSON: For 273 days, I have cemented myself as the franchise of this company, and I know that sounds like a lot of ego-centric bullshit, but it’s the truth. I became the first grand slam champion, and the only person to have held all the original Seattle Pro belts. I have the longest reign of any title, the most defenses of any title, the first active champion to win the ECC, and the first active champion to be inducted into the hall of fame. I put a lot into this title reign, and I wasn’t done yet.
The disappointment starts to sink in, as Billy’s face goes a bit sour. Just thinking about what happened three weeks ago.
BILLY DANIELSON: I wasn’t done yet, because I was excited to see where I went. Could I make it to 300 days? A Year? Could I win the Heavyweight Title and be a double champion? I was also excited to see who would beat me. Chris Constantine Jr? Amira Kassouri? Someone else? This is all the stuff I was excited form and I know you all were excited to see that too, but clearly Bryan Blaze had other plans. Blake Mitchell had other plans.
The crowd boos the reference two the two guys that jumped Billy Danielson at the last Seattle Pro show. Billy had just beaten Blake Mitchell in a successful defense, when Bryan Blaze repeated his assault from the Hall of Fame ceremony, and attacked Billy from behind. Blaze and Mitchell would then team up to attack Billy, breaking his collarbone in the process and putting him out of action for nearly 3 months. Billy was in a lot of pain, and was definitely more upset about this incident than the fans, but he still shushes the crowd.
BILLY DANIELSON: Don’t give them your energy they don’t deserve it. They took a great thing, they took a legacy, and they literally broke it. The match ups, all of the fantasy bookings, thrown out the window. So don’t give them the energy, the ability to enjoy their misdeeds, because Bryan Blaze… Blake Mitchell… they’ll get what they deserve soon enough.
“But I’m not here, because of them…”
Billy puts his head down and points to the title laying at his feet.
BILLY DANIELSON: I’m here because I need to do what’s right. I’m here, to vacate the Seattle Pro United States Championship…
The crowd does more of a sad boo now.
BILLY DANIELSON: There’s a chance that I won’t even be able to wrestle until November, and it isn’t fair to the great talent here at Seattle Pro if I boggart this title while on injury reserve. It’s not fair to them, it’s not fair to you, and it isn’t fair to me.
“Thank you all so much for being with me on this journey, and when I come back, there will be asses to be kicked, payback to get, and a World Heavyweight Championship to win.”
“I hope whoever wins this title next is able to grow and achieve just as much as I did. Good luck.”
Billy drops to one knee, telling the title goodbye one last time, before rolling out of the ring and walking to the back. His music plays, as the crowd chants.

CHARLES HUDSON: I did not see this coming Lou!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: Rumors have been swirling for the last few days that Billy may not be able to compete within the contractually obligates 30 Day time frame in which you must defend your title so this is a joint decision by him and Robb Daniels this I am sure of.
CHARLES HUDSON: Danielson has been the United States Champion for nearly 300 days! That takes a toll on person defending the title night in and night out. He needs to take this time to rest, heal and prepare for when he comes back because as the 2019 Emerald City Classic Champion he has a title shot waiting for him to use at his discretion.
MCKAYLA LEWIS: You’re right Charles. Once Billy Danielson returns he’ll be able to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship no questions asked because he earned that right this summer. We want to wish Billy Danielson the best of luck in his recovery. We’re going to go backstage for a word with James Edwards!
BACKSTAGE...
From inside the tunnel walks James Edwards, suited up for action, and wearing the face of a man about to do unspeakable things.
JAMES EDWARDS: I guess y'all wanna know what's to happen out there?
Edwards question is rhetorical, and the SPW camera crew are smart enough to let him say his piece.
JAMES EDWARDS: I came back here to make history, not relive it. Every damn time I start to build some traction here, somebody no-name climbs outta the gutter and jumps me. Bryan Blaze did it, and so did Eli Buchanan. Those two used me as a springboard, and I just let it go instead of breakin' their bones like I should have.
Edwards pulls up the hood on his ring jacket.
JAMES EDWARDS: These Celestial Warriors, they're doing the same thing, and I know this ain't personal. They picked the first guy with name recognition they thought wouldn't fight back, and in the past, I wouldn't have. I would've let it go, man. I can't this time. I ain't here to relive history. I'm here to make it, again. I'm gonna win that triple crown, and it starts tonight by making Carlos Cruze into a piece of history...
Edwards turns the corner and out of sight.
