RUPP ARENA - LEXINGTON, KY
MAINSTREAM IS LIVE FROM LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY FROM THE HISTORIC RUPP ARENA...HOME OF THE KENTUCKY WILDCATS!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: Ladies and Gentlemen we’re Live on the Battleground Network from RUPP ARENA right here in LEXINGTON!
The show cuts back to a shot of the ring. Then a raucous cheer breaks out from the crowd, causing the camera to pan toward the entrance ramp. Standing at the mouth of the stage, dressed in blue jeans and a black t-shirt, is former SPW Heavyweight Champion, recently elected Hall of Famer and Lexington native, James Edwards.
He raises a hand and acknowledges the cheers from his hometown crowd, taking a moment to soak in the atmosphere. Edwards waits for the crowd to die down and pulls a microphone from his pants pocket.
JAMES EDWARDS: It's good to be home.
Another explosion of cheers brings a smile to Edwards' face.
JAMES EDWARDS: Y'all have no idea how long I've waited to step into this building as a professional wrestler, and even if I ain't fightin' tonight, I do have something to say that's just as good.
Appearing nervous, Edwards runs his hand through his hair before continuing.
JAMES EDWARDS: I ain't going to get into why, but I wasn't happy how I left this place. It always felt like here, home. I liked the people I fought, and Robb is the only boss I've ever had that I didn't want to punch after knowing him for five minutes. When he called me to say I was going into the Hall, I saw it as a chance to come back to say goodbye, but then I started thinkin', why did it have to be goodbye? Why couldn't it be a new beginning?
The crowd starts to buzz.
JAMES EDWARDS: So I'm here to announce that as of tonight, I'm back as a full-time competitor in a Seattle Pro ring!
A titanic wall of noise greets James' words, causing him to smile again as the show goes backstage.
