FUSION IS LIVE FROM THE UNITED CENTER IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS! THE HOME OF THE CHICAGO BULLS!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: Ladied and Gentlemen Welcome to FUSION 6! We’re here in the United Center of Chicago, Illinois! All the titles are on the line tonight but before we head down to the ring for tonight’s opening bout let’s go backstage to Samantha Kinsley whom is joined by a special guest at this time...
BACKSTAGE...
Samantha Kinsley is standing by with her first guest of the evening.
SAMANTHA KINSLEY: Ladies and gentlemen, please help me welcome the new WTC Destiny Crown Champion, Eli Buchanan.
Buchanan enters, carrying the championship over his shoulder. His face is still bruised from the injuries he sustained in the tournament.
SAMANTHA KINSLEY: First off, congratulations to you, Eli, on becoming becoming the first ever WTC Destiny Crown Champion. you must be filling thrilled at reaching this accomplishment.
ELI BUCHANAN: Thrilled isn't the only thing I'm feeling tonight. {rubbing his bruised face} You're absolutely right though, I'm very happy about what I accomplished last week in Chicago. Winning the Destiny 8 Tournament was one of the most validating things I've ever accomplished. Despite all the pain I put my body though on September 13th, it was all worth it. It proved to me that my decision to toss the tiger mask aside for good was the right decision to make for me to make and it showed the world that Eli F'n Buchanan can be more than a wild man gimmick and a few parlor tricks. I am the WTC Destiny Crown Champion and if the locker room was paying attention to me before they better start now.
SAMANTHA KINSLEY: This brings me to your match tonight. You are facing AJ Morales for the Pride Championship. Care to comment?
ELI BUCHANAN: Samantha, when I came to Seattle Pro late last year was a broken man, void of any confidence. I had one plan in mind and that was to work my way up from the very bottom of this company and prove that I belonged at the very top. I've made it well known that planned to become the first ever grand slam winner in the history of this company and while I've had a few hiccups along the way that is still my plan.
He points to Samantha.
ELI BUCHANAN: As you said, tonight I face Pride Champion AJ Morales. AJ and I are no strangers to one another and despite our past differences I have a ton of respect for the man. But you need to realize this, AJ, I am on one of the biggest rolls of my career and as of late I have been a man of my word. Two weeks ago I said I would beat A.J. Knight and finally put to rest my issues with him. Done. Last week I said that I would become the first ever WTC Destiny Crown Champion.
He takes the championship belt from his shoulder and raises it above his head.
ELI BUCHANAN: I think it's pretty safe to say that I did that. And tonight, I'm promising to the world that I will beat AJ Morales and become the new Seattle Pro Wrestling Pride Champion!
He turns to leave, but Samantha stops him.
ELI BUCHANAN: Sorry Eli, I have just one more question. What are your thoughts about tonight's grudge match between Jacob Davies and your former Killswitch comrade, Bryan Blaze.
Eli snorts.
ELI BUCHANAN: Either Davies gets kicked out the door or Blaze has to wear a mask. You might think, Samantha, that because we kicked Bryan out of Killswitch that I hold some ill will towards the man. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I have a lot of respect for the man but when he started putting his ego before the group and allowed guys like Davies and Morales to get into his head, he became a liability to Killswitch and had to be shown the door. Now as for Jacob Davies, I honestly don’t know the man from Adam and don’t really have any feelings about him one way or the other.
He tosses the WTC Destiny Crown Champion back on his shoulder and holds both his hands up, palms side up.
ELI BUCHANAN: So on one hand a man loses his job. There are certainly other places to get paid to wrestle, maybe not as well as we do here in Seattle but there certainly other places to make a living in this business. On the other hand, a man loses his identity. That might sound really strange about being forced to wear a mask because it’s usually the other way around. Many wrestlers south of the border have been forced to retire because they lost their masks because they lost something of themselves in the process, but the same can be said about being forced to put a mask on after years of wrestling without one. Not only does a mask change your perception in the ring and can limit your vision but imagine being forced to lose the face that’s helped you make a living in this industry. That can do things to a man that send chills up down my spine and bring up memories I’d rather not relive.
SAMANTHA KINSLEY: So who do think will win?
Eli shakes his head. He starts turning away but stops and faces Samantha again.
ELI BUCHANAN: For Bryan’s sake I hope he wins. There are worse fates than having to up on a mask wear and it for the rest of your career but that doesn’t mean I’d wish it unwillingly on anyone.
With that he finally turns and leaves the area.
SAMANTHA KINSLEY: Thank you, Eli. McKayla, Charles, back to you.
