MAINSTREAM WRESTLING IS LIVE FROM NEW YORK CITY AND WE’RE INSIDE THE HISTORIC MADISON SQUARE GARDEN FOR INCEPTION III!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: Ladies and Gentlemen, Happy New Year and Welcome to Mainstream 79 and tonight is INCEPTION III!
“War Machine” by KISS begins to screech over the PA system, bringing the ruckus New York City audience to their feet inside of the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden! After a few brief moments, the Mainstream Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Madison, steps through the curtain with Frankie Morrison by his side. Together they are embraced by a passionate fanbase whose deafening roars echo throughout the arena. With his championship belt secured around his waist, Madison takes a moment to soak in the adulation from the crowd while Frankie Morrison begins making his way to the ring. Madison slowly begins to follow, making sure to high five as many fans as he possibly can on his way down to the ring. He makes it to the ring steps and looks around the entire arena as they serenade him with his theme music. Madison smacks the top of the steel steps and then hustles up to the apron and then quickly climbs the nearby corner. While perched on the top turnbuckle, Madison unfastens his championship belt and hoists it over his head, garnering a louder ovation from the live audience. Morrison watches from the center of the ring, with a microphone in hand, and applauds his client as he jumps down into the ring. Madison takes the microphone from Morrison and pauses for a moment, giving the crowd a chance to quiet down.
CHRIS MADISON: Man it feels good to be home!
Madison smiles as the audience erupts.
CHRIS MADISON: Tonight starts a new year for Mainstream Wrestling, but for me it’s a continuation of the hard work I’ve put into this record breakin’ one hundred and seventy six day title reign!
He pauses as the crowd cheers for their hometown competitor.
CHRIS MADISON: Not too shabby for a guy who wasn’t even supposed to be a part of the tournament which crowned a new World Heavyweight Champion after the whole Manny fiasco!
Morrison buries his face in his hand as Madison chuckles.
CHRIS MADISON: I’ve taken pride in bringin’ stability to this championship, givin’ this company a presence at the top that the rest of that locker room could strive towards. No matter who the challenger was, or who wanted to push themselves towards that opportunity, the constant was, and still is, that they were goin’ to have to go through me! That was the case at the beginnin’ of my reign when I defended against Skye Healy and Cartier, that was the case at the five year anniversary show against James Edwards, and that’s the case tonight as I defend against Sage Lowry.
You can feel the excitement in the air from the live audience in anticipation for the championship title match.
CHRIS MADISON: This is a big opportunity for Sage. A chance to step out of her mentor’s shadow and show exactly what she’s got as a singles competitor. But perhaps more importantly, Emma Douglas, gets to see how her teachings measure up against a champion that she’s on the verge of challengin’. But here’s the thing, six defenses and a one hundred seventy six day reign as champ isn’t where this ends. We’re in my house! Madison Square Garden! New York is, and will always be my home. Gettin’ the chance to defend in front of eighteen thousand means more than you know. You all have had my back through every step of my career. The ups, the downs…
"Judas" by Septogram plays throughout Madison Square Garden. After a moment, Emma Douglas comes walking out, looking as confident as ever. She is notably wearing a very gothic crown upon her head, so dark and angles, not quite what you'd expect from a "Queen" but on her, it works. She stares down Chris Madison from the stage for a few before bringing the microphone up to her mouth.
EMMA DOUGLAS: I'd say I'm sorry to interrupt you, but that's a lie. Because I'm very glad to do just that. Because your time is over. Your time in the sun is coming to an end real soon, and you're looking at the person whom is going to end your reign.
Madison is about to speak and Emma interrupts her once more.
EMMA DOUGLAS: I know what you're going to say, so just shut it. You're going to say, "That didn't work out so well for me the last time I tried it, did it?". Those were the words you were going to say, right?
Madison nods and keeps talking trash but none of it is quite picked up on the mic.
EMMA DOUGLAS: I admit, I've struggled here in Mainstream. I came here to dominate, to run through people and I just....haven't. I'd get title opportunities and ultimately choke. Put on a good showing but fall short every time. It's been beyond frustrating.
Emma shakes her head as she paces around the stage.
EMMA DOUGLAS: So I changed tactics. Seeing how I was being assaulted by Skye Healy and her friend, I knew I needed some back up, so I plucked a recently graduated Sage Lowry out of obscurity and gave her a chance to be a part of something. To be part of my rise and become one of the most successful Squires in the process. I took what they taught her and help mold her into the spitfire you see of her now.. My doing. And together, we carried the tag team division here. For six months, not a single team could touch us. It wasn't even close. Euphoric would argue differently but they are just bitter at OUR success.
Emma chuckles bit as she continues.
EMMA DOUGLAS: And I transitioned that bit of tag team success back into singles success. I used my frustrations and anger from losing those tag titles to a couple of pretty boys to toss people around in the Chase For The Crown.
Emma makes a point to point at the gothic crown upon her head and cackles.
EMMA DOUGLAS: So unlike the last time, I EARNED this title shot. No trying to justify my participation a championship challenge. No sneak attacks to catch your ire. No more excuses and half truths. I EARNED this and I won't be stopped. You've been a great champion, Chris, there is no denying that, but every reign ends at some point and I'm going to be the one taking the honors of relieving you of your championship gold.
Emma holds up her hand to cut him off once more.
EMMA DOUGLAS: Deny it all you want. But you're tired. From the constant abuse from defending that belt. You're weary, I see it in your eyes. So, get past Sage if you can. Because if she doesn't get the job done, I sure as hell will. I am done being thought as a joke and an after thought. There is nothing on this planet that is going to stop me from tearing that belt from your grasp. Like I said, MY time is now. Long may She reign.
Emma chuckles to herself as she tosses the mic down on the stage and walks off backstage, not even bothering on giving Madison a second glance back, having said her piece.
CHARLES HUDSON: Our World Heavyweight Champion Chris Madison and ‘Queen’ Emma Douglas are undoubtedly on a collision course!
MCKAYLA LEWIS: That’s if he’s able to defeat the former World Tag Team Champion, Sage Lowry later tonight!
