FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indianapolis, Indiana - 5th July 2021
Kevin Bombay, Battleground Network Executive and General Manager of Mainstream Wrestling would step up to the podium and remain there for the duration of the fifteen-minute allotted press conference. He would open up with the congratulatory address of Mariano Fernandez’s third World Heavyweight Championship victory. Bombay would follow that up with an follow up to the post match fall-out before MAINSTREAM 70: No Remorse went off the air.
“Mariano Fernandez was a Grand Slam Champion but that’s wasn’t good enough for him. Manny needed to win the Emerald City Classic before he would be satisfied looking back on his career. Last night you witnessed an instant Classic between Julianna DiMaria and Mariano Fernandez with an on-going feud that dates back to last years Emerald City Classic when DiMaria would defeat Fernandez to advance to last years Classic Finale...” said Kevin Bombay.
Robb Daniels is introduced by Kevin Bombay and he steps to the podium.
“Mariano Fernandez achieved his personal goal of winning the 2021 Emerald City Classic. He was satisfied and ready to walk away but after he, Kevin and I met to discuss his future and contract negotiations we learned that last night would be his ‘swan song’ regardless the outcome. Amazing job by Julianna DiMaria and her team of trainers. She’s been on a tear for over a year now and making history with each successful title defense. She’ll always be in title contention but today I unfortunately bring to you the definitive interpretation of last nights Main Event fall out. Mariano Fernandez has wrestled his final match here in Mainstream Wrestling and of his career…” says Daniels.
Robb Daniels would then go on to talk about the status of the Mainstream Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship. As of July 5, 2021 the World Heavyweight Championship has been vacated by the sudden retirement of Mariano Fernandez. Kevin Bombay would step back up to the podium.
“Mainstream Wrestling will hold a special one night tournament at MAINSTREAM 71 on Sunday, August 1st with a tournament to crown the new World Heavyweight Champion. More information about the participants will be announced in the coming weeks. Thank you all for your attendance and attention to today’s news conference but we’re going to leave you with comments from Fernandez himself…” said Bombay.
"I would like to thank the people that have accompanied me in my journey up to this point. First of course is Trixie, Robb Daniels and the entirety of the MAINSTREAM staff, my friend Jason Cashe, and everyone else that has supported me throughout my career. I owe everyone a debt I can't ever repay, but to everyone - thank you. Thank you all, from the very bottom of my heart…” said Mariano Fernandez.
